4credit hour(s)Prerequisite:BIOL 2710 The goal of this course is to provide theory and experience with protocols used to characterize and manipulate nucleic acids. This course will reinforce and build upon techniques learned in Biotechnology I. Techniques include DNA isolation and quantification, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, recombinant DNA technology, cloning, DNA sequencing, site-directed mutagenesis, tissue culture, and basic bioinformatics skills. Current issues and topics related to biotechnology will be explored.
