EDUC 2262 - Intermediate Literacy for Diverse Learners
3credit hour(s)Prerequisite: EDUC 2260 or ECED 2860 Examines the essential components of intermediate literacy instruction with an emphasis on grades 4-8. Course competencies are built upon national and state standards for elementary reading and focus on the development and assessment of student vocabulary, academic language, background knowledge, reading comprehension, and student research and analysis of narrative and expository texts. Students will learn about research-based methods, materials, and strategies including differentiation, interventions, and considerations for ensuring accessibility for a diverse student population including struggling readers, students with disabilities, and English language learners.
