3credit hour(s)Pre- or corequisite:BCIS 1110. Introduces concepts of Geographic Information Systems including applications, components, mapping, data acquisition and data capture. Laboratory component consists of exercises clearly demonstrating a number of typical uses for GIS software. Emphasis on understanding general concepts and theories that can be carried over to any number of existing GIS software packages. Global positioning system hardware and software also introduced.
