CIS 1415 - IT Essentials II: Network Operating Systems

3 credit hour(s)
(Prerequisite: CIS 1410 )

This course covers the installation and administration of Network Operating Systems including Microsoft Windows and Linux. Students will be instructed in both lecture and hands on labs, including server setup, server configuration, basic administration of common networking services and security administration with an emphasis on network communication protocols. Topics include, installation of the Network Operating System, configuration of network services, (i.e. file and print sharing) managing users, remote access, DHCP, FTP, HTTP and managing a network infrastructure. Upon completion of this course, student should be able to install and configure a Network Server environment supporting the preparation for taking the CompTIA Server+ exam.
