3credit hour(s)Prerequisite:ENG 1101. This is a 2000-level introductory survey of early modern philosophy. The course will include discussion of early scientific empiricists, the continental rationalist tradition, British empiricism, and Kant’s synthesis of the two systems. Topics to be discussed include: early scientific thought, theories of the self, theories of knowledge and metaphysics, and early political philosophy.
