Engineering Technician, Certificate of Completion

Learners completing an engineering technician certificate will be prepared to pursue entry-level jobs in a related industry. Learners will have foundational hands-on skills for working in manufacturing and research facilities.

Multiple employers in the Albuquerque and greater NM area are in need of persons with this credential.

There are multiple CIP codes related to ET. A review in IPEDs of NM market institutions determined that the two primary codes used in NM are 15.0000 (Engineering Technology, General) and 15.0303 (Electrical/Communications Engineering Technology). NM Market Employment Score (IPAM) for 15.0000 was 6 (86 percentile) and for 15.0303 was 15 (97 percentile). Included Powerpoint has screenshots of the data.

Discussions with Sandia, LANL and other workforce partners has determined a high interest in students with skills and credentials unique from electrical trades or our transfer engineering program. Workforce and Community Success discussions with these community partners have indicated a potential for over 1000 jobs in the upcoming years.
