The Associate of Arts in Chicana and Chicano Studies (CCS) provides students the opportunity to transfer into the CCS program at UNM as a junior, with 60 applicable credits. It prepares students with a critical understanding of issues facing Chicano/Hispano/Mexicano communities.

Admission to the Chicana and Chicano Studies degree at UNM requires students to attain Spanish Level IV proficiency. Students who test into SPAN 1110 or 1210 will need to complete the Spanish sequence to SPAN 2120 as noted in the term-by-term. Students who test into higher-level Spanish classes may use Arts and Sciences coursework to satisfy degree requirements.
