American Studies at CNM is an interdisciplinary program in which students engage in a social and cultural investigation into structures and dynamics that shape the lives and experiences of people within the United States in a global context. CNM’s unique program empowers students to ask questions and address issues facing our communities in the current moment. Our program is built on a foundation of critical pedagogy and designed for students who are interested in social responsibility and social justice. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an Associate of Arts in American Studies with a Certificate of Achievement in Social Justice.
The Associate of Arts in American Studies provides students with the opportunity to transfer into the AMST program at UNM as a junior, with 60 applicable credits. From there, students may go on to complete a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree in American Studies.
