Geology, Associate of Science

Upon successful completion of this program, the students will be able to:

1. Compare and contrast the different plate tectonic settings.
2. Apply the scientific method.
3. Identify and classify minerals and rocks, and interpret the origin and formation history of a given mineral or rock sample.
4. Interpret the geologic history of a rock, rock unit, or map.
5. Demonstrate proper operation of laboratory and/or field equipment to collect relevant and quality data.
6. Communicate effectively about scientific ideas and topics, in oral and/or written formats.
7. Relate geology to personal, social or global impact.
