Upon successful completion of this program, the students will be able to:

1. Quality Control: Demonstrate the ability to follow standard operating procedures, keep accurate records, and perform equipment validation in the laboratory.
2. Safety: Demonstrate an understanding of basic laboratory safety and the handling and disposal of biological and chemical wastes.
3. Nucleic Acids: Demonstrate an understanding of the basic properties of nucleic acids as well as techniques used to isolate, purify and anlayze these moules.
4. Proteins: Demonstrate an understanding of the basic properties of proteins as well as techniques used to isolate, purify and analyze these molecules.
5. Computer Skills: Demonstrate command of basic bioinformatics skills used to perform literature searches and characterize nucleic acids and protein.
