Cardiovascular Sonography, Associate of Applied Science

  1. Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
  2. Performs appropriate procedures and records anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiologic data for interpretation by a physician.
  3. Records, analyzes, and processes diagnostic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
  4. Exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of sonographic and/or related diagnostic services.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals to effectively communicate and collaborate in the healthcare environment.
  6. Acts in a professional and ethical manner.
  7. Facilitates communication and education to elicit patient cooperation and understanding of expectations and responds to questions regarding the sonographic examination.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of sonographers in the application of ergonomic techniques, types, and methods of infection control, patient care, quality control and improvement programs, and other duties that support their work.
