This program presents water supply and distribution systems and wastewater treatment system operations. It also exposes the student to the management and protection of water resources. Students will learn equipment and instrumentation necessary to monitor water and wastewater quality, NPDES Discharge Permits and associated Clean Water Act Protocols.
Career and Educational Opportunities
This program prepares a student for entry level water technician positions. A water technician ensures the quality of water consumed and used by the public through monitoring it at a water treatment plant and may be in charge of the equipment maintenance at the plant. The job entails using various tools, computerized systems and gauges to test the water for contaminants and inconsistencies.
