Optical Dispensing, Associate of Applied Science

Description

This program gives the student the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work in optical dispensing. Standard eyewear and contact lens dispension are covered.  While in progress students will be eligible to take the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) Basic certification exams (at the end of term 2) and advanced certification exams (at the end of term 4).  Upon completion of the program graduates will have finished all materials to apply for master level status with the ABO.

Career Opportunities in Optical Dispensing

This degree and the embedded certificates provides students the opportunity to gain the knowledge and technical skills to work as technicians in optician’s offices, eyewear manufacturing plants and retail eyewear sites. Emphasis is on both traditional eyewear and contact lens dispensing. Graduates are eligible for credentialing by the American Board of Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners (ABO-NCLE)
