Automotive Technology prepares graduates for entry level positions in the automotive and light truck service and repair industry.
Skills needed for success
Computer literacy, ability to read and write English at a community college level, general math skills, critical thinking, ability to visualize the rotation of parts in space, excellent eye-hand coordination, and at least average physical conditioning

Current pay rates
Graduates are generally paid a percentage of the shop labor rate per job. Individual technicians earn more as their skills and ability grow. Journeymen technicians earn $40,000 to $80,000 annually.
