3credit hour(s)Pre- or corequisite:HIT 1030 Focuses on legal and regulatory requirements related to health information infrastructure, policies, rules and regulations for access and disclosure of medical information and patient confidentiality (HIPAA), release of information to authorized users, principles and organization of the judicial system and ethical standards of practice. Privacy issues and problems will be explored.
