3credit hour(s)Prerequisite:CIST 1680 Pre- or corequisite:CIST 1413 This course covers a range of topics including network and computer security, general security concepts, communication security, infrastructure security, operational and organizational security, encryption technologies, system and network security types of attacks, risk management, intrusion detection and prevention, assessing risk, auditing, and security control procedures. The course is designed to prepare students for an industry certification exam.
Note(s):
This course has an additional course fee that covers the cost of the certification voucher for CompTIA Security+ exam. This exam is the final for the course, and must be taken at a certified testing center (such as CNM’s Workforce Training Center).
Due to the rigor of the exams, students are discouraged from taking two CIS courses with certification exams in the same semester.
