PSD 1002 - Public Safety Dispatch Foundational Skills
3credit hour(s)Prerequisite: Department Approval This course introduces the student to the basic skills, knowledge and abilities every successful public safety telecommunicator needs to meet the demands of this critical work. This course provides the foundational competency as a public safety telecommunicator as outlined by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety training standards and it meets or exceeds the American National Standards as contained in the ANSI approved Minimum Training Standard for Public Safety Telecommunicators (APCO ANS 3.103.2.2015). Topics include interpersonal communications, telephone communication techniques, liability issues, computer-aided dispatch, and radio communication techniques.
