HMSV 2340 - Case Management and Professional Skills in Substance Abuse Treatment
3credit hour(s)Pre- or corequisite:HMSV 1210 Explores the principles and practice of case management in addiction treatment including collaboration with referral sources; review and interpretation of client evaluation information; administrative procedures for eligibility and admission for treatment; and coordination with service providers. Introduces legal, ethical, cultural, and professional issues in substance abuse treatment with the goal of developing student competencies in these areas. State and Federal regulations, laws and codes that protect client confidentiality, cultural values, service parity and equity will be emphasized. Strategic Prevention Framework skills such as team and capacity building, community assessment and planning will also be addressed.
