SPED 2260 - Methods and Materials for Special Education
3credit hour(s)Prerequisite:EDUC 2285 Examines appropriate teaching strategies and materials in instructional design and delivery, including classroom-based assessment and data collection for students receiving special education services. Course competencies are built upon national, state, and professional standards and focus on 1) clearly identifying student learning goals, 2) developing formative assessments for learning, 3) engaging students in their own learning, and 4) differentiating for individual and diverse student needs including designing instruction based on student strengths, integrating opportunities for addressing IEP goals within content area lessons developed using grade-level standards, and developing evaluation tools for reporting student progress as related to specific learning goals.
