3credit hour(s)Prerequisite:SOCI 1110 This course is a survey of qualitative and quantitative approaches to sociological research. The course provides an overview of the research process, focusing on research design, hypothesis formulation, measurement, and data collection. In this course, students will develop the ability to critically analyze social research, as well as design and execute their own research projects. At the conclusion of this course, students should also have more confidence critically analyzing, writing about, and otherwise discussing research findings they encounter, while also becoming better equipped to comprehend complex social structures and concerns.
