Recommended:ASTR 1110L* Stars, galaxies, and the structure of the universe are explored in this descriptive course. Starting with a review of the fundamentals of astronomy, the course then moves on to the formation, evolution, and death of stars. The course then continues with the nature of galaxies, galaxy evolution, current concepts in cosmology, and the large scale structure of the universe. Astronomy 1110 is a course designed for students having little or no background in astronomy or physics. The course focuses on interpretation of the nature of the universe based on modern observational techniques and the properties of light and matter.
prerequisite may elect to take FYEX 1110 as a Pre- or Corequisite to this course.
