EDUC 2264 - Reading and Writing in Secondary Education for Diverse Learners
3credit hour(s)Pre- or corequisite:EDUC 2285 Examines the essential components of content area literacy instruction for students in grades 7-12. Course competencies are built upon national and state standards for secondary literacy instruction, content area literacy, and focus on the design and integration of explicit reading and writing instruction using differentiated materials and evidence-based strategies. Students will learn about research-based methods, materials, and strategies including differentiation, interventions, and considerations for ensuring accessibility for a diverse student population including struggling readers, students with disabilities, and English language learners.
