or FYEX 1110. Archaeology is the study of the human past through the analysis of material remains humans have left behind. This course explores the basic theoretical and methodological underpinnings of the discipline, as well as the techniques that archaeologists employ to describe the empirical world, produce data, and interpret how people lived in the past. Examples of archaeological research from around the world will be used to increase students’ understanding of concepts presented in lecture. Students will also apply the archeological principles in the laboratory portion of the course.
