3credit hour(s)Prerequisite: Department approval. Requires students to work 135 hours in the local Public Defender’s Office under the supervision of an attorney or attorney’s designate and become familiar with all forms of case preparation for indigent criminal defendants. CNM supervision of the student’s experience must be arranged between the student and an instructor under a written agreement provided by the Paralegal Studies office. The student is jointly evaluated by the Public Defender’s Office and the instructor. The course is offered subject to availability of a supervising attorney or attorney’s designate.
