Pre- or corequisite:HLTH 1001 + (ENG 1101 or ENG 1101P) Corequisite:EMS 1093 + EMS 1190. Provides the level of classroom instruction needed to begin a career in emergency medical services. Includes instruction on preparatory topics, airway management, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, pediatric care and EMS operations. Meets or exceeds the cognitive objectives of the National EMS Education Standards and incorporates the NM EMT-Basic Scope of Practice.
