3credit hour(s)Assists entry-level early care, education and family support individuals to advance their understanding and practice in the seven competency areas as defined by the state of New Mexico. The course provides opportunities for students to construct knowledge about children, families, communities and support systems through discussion, reflection and skill practice. Students are required to conduct field-based assignments and may not miss more than 2 hours of the course due to state requirements. Successful completion of the course will qualify students to apply for the 45-Hour Certificate from the NM Office of Child Development to be certified to work as an early childhood educator.
