TLOL 1020 - Assessing the Online Learner

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Create an online learning environment where participants collaborate and discuss the dynamics of online assessment techniques.
  2. Identify and discuss various online assessment techniques to include summative, authentic, creative and learner focused.
  3. Identify, discuss, and use best practices in the design and development of online assessments.
  4. Examine your current teaching and learning assessment strategy and reflect on how it applies to best practices in online assessments.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to use Blackboard tools for creating and grading assessments online.
  6. Examine and use the Quality Matters rubric to ensure alignment between online assessments and course and weekly objectives.
  7. Apply the Quality Matters Rubric to self-assess and peer review alignment between assessments and objectives.

Course Description
Intended for higher education faculty or public school teachers interested in implementing enhanced techniques for assessing online learners and evaluation in online courses. With a focus on formative, summative, authentic, creative and learner focus assessments, in addition to the alignment of assessment with design.
