Identify anatomy related to the above specialty areas.
Describe the design of the operating room related to function in each of the specialty area listed above.
Describe the principles of microbiology to sterilization, disinfection, sterility, and infection control.
Describe the scope of practice of the surgical technologist in the operating room as related to the surgical specialties listed above.
Describe the use of accessory supplies and their pertinence to the surgical specialty procedures listed above.
Correlate the principles of pharmacology and using medication during surgical procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
Describe surgical highlights and surgical pathology of the surgical specialties listed above.
Discuss the reasons for fear and anxiety in relation to adult and pediatric patient care.
Demonstrate comprehension and application of appropriate principles of physics as related to tasks performed by the surgical technologist.
Course Description Continues Surgical Technology Theory with a focus on an introduction to surgical procedures with a brief history, relevant anatomy and special considerations for general surgery, obstetrics and gynecological procedures, ophthalmic surgery, otorhinolaryngologic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
