HT 2225 - Gaming Operations and Management

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the history of the development of the gaming industry and its various components.
  2. Explain the three basic gaming controls histories: Nevada, Atlantic City and Indian Country.
  3. Discuss the internal controls and taxes relating to gaming operations.
  4. Identify the organizational structure of gaming properties including the staffing of: craps dealers, supervisors, box person, blackjack/twenty-one pit and pit managers.
  5. Explain the process of currency reporting used by gaming operations.
  6. Distinguish the organizational structure of: casino cage, casino credit and collections.
  7. Show the operational structures relating to slot management.
  8. Identify the various table games offered in gaming operations.
  9. Describe the play and operating procedures of the table games.
  10. Explain the operational flow relating to casino accounting procedures.
  11. Calculate the mathematics of various casino games.
  12. Identify the elements of an effective player rating system.
  13. Describe the uses of table game hold.

Course Description
Emphasizes the organizational structure of casinos and their personnel. Topics include gaming behavior, marketing, player rating, slot volatility, casino layout and table games management. The strategies and procedures that need to be used to protect the integrity of table games and the role of surveillance in the prevention and detection of scam artists and cheaters are examined.
