ESOL 1010 - Reading and Vocabulary for Specific Purposes
Course Description This course for nonnative English speakers focuses on the development and application of a variety of reading strategies to comprehend advanced authentic texts, documents, and materials relevant to students’ academic and/or professional needs. Students learn and practice critical reading and thinking skills and focus on building academic and/or industry-specific vocabulary to expand their lexical repertoires. * It is recommended that students take ESOL 0350, ESOL 0450, ESOL 0551, and ESOL 0651 before they take ESOL 1001, ESOL 1010, ESOL 1020, & ESOL 1030 because students need a foundation in academic language skills to become proficient in English.
