Produce drawings that demonstrate techniques and mechanics of observational drawing.
Demonstrate competency in the following practices: measuring and sighting, gesture, contour line, negative space, shape, value, space, volume, plane and texture.
Create drawings primarily from observation with black and white traditional drawing media.
Demonstrate effective verbal or written response to one’s own art and the art of others.
Course Description This course introduces the basic principles, materials, and skills of observational drawing. Emphasis is placed on rendering a 3-D subject on a 2-D surface with visual accuracy. Other topics include historical and contemporary references as well as an investigation of linear perspective, line, value, shape, space & composition. Credits: 3
