EDUC 2264 - Reading and Writing across the Curriculum in Secondary Education
3credit hour(s)Pre- or corequisite:EDUC 2285. Examines the essential components of content area literacy instruction for students in grades 7-12. Course competencies are built upon national and state standards and focus on the design and implementation of an integrated curriculum that supports diverse student needs in reading and writing across the curriculum. Demonstrates research-based methods, materials, and strategies for content area literacy instruction and assessment, including differentiation and interventions for struggling readers and writers. Requires field experience as part of the course.
