Getting Started

School of Applied Technologies (AT)

Description

The program integrates mathematics and blueprint reading into the technical courses at all levels. Computer applications are emphasized throughout the program. The curriculum includes the principles of architectural and engineering graphics and the theory and practice of construction technology. To prepare students for work in the construction industry, the development and use of communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills are incorporated throughout the program.

Many of our courses are transferable to universities and CNM currently has transfer agreements with many colleges in New Mexico.

Employment Information

Graduates are prepared for entry-level jobs such as architectural or engineering drafting technicians in residential and commercial construction and in sales and drafting positions with contractors, fabricators and suppliers. The Architectural/Engineering Drafting Technology, Certificate of Completion is also conducive to those seeking professional and technical upgrading in the design profession.

Recommended Sequence of Courses


Program Proficiencies and/or Prerequisites


Students must demonstrate proficiency in these areas either by placement exam, scores  or specific course work.

Term 2


Either Term 2 or Term 3 courses may be taken directly after the completion of Term 1 courses

Term 3


Either Term 2 or Term 3 courses may be taken directly after the completion of Term 1 courses

Term 4


Either Term 4 or Term 5 classes may be taken after completing Term 2 and Term 3 classes.

Term 5


Either Term 4 or Term 5 classes may be taken after completing Term 2 and Term 3 classes.
